Kalpitiya is also known for its proximity to the Bar Reef Marine Sanctuary, one of Sri Lanka’s largest coral reef systems, which contributes to the area’s biodiversity. This rich ecosystem supports not only dolphins but also whales on rare occasions, sea turtles, and a variety of fish species.
